Eva Patalinjug

Get to Know Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 Winner: Eva Patalinjug

2014 is turning out to be the year of the Cebuana beauty queens!

First, Kris Tiffany Janson, Miss Cebu 2009, brought home the Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014. Soon afterwards, Jamie Herrell was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2014.

Last August 8, 2014, another Cebuana joined the list of national pageant title holders. Eva Psychee Patalinjug, 21 years old from Lapu-Lapu city, won the prestigious Mutya ng Pilipinas – Asia Pacific International 2014 crown.

We first met Eva when she was still vying for the 2014 Miss Cebu title. She ended up winning first runner up and took home most of the awards. This young stunner, a Nursing graduate from Cebu Doctors’ University, is no stranger to the stage. Aside from being a model and a beauty queen, Eva also used to be an SK Chairman.

On a personal note, it’s not just her angelic beauty that won the people’s hearts, but her distinct appeal topped with humility. Although she has become busier than ever these days, she readily responded to our request for an interview.

Thank you Eva!

032: Can you tell us 3 random things about you?

I’m a perfectionist.

I’m romantic.

I’m a cry baby! I easily cry when I watch drama films or when talking about sensitive topics for me.

032: You have the beauty, the brains and the right attitude, but aside from these three qualities, what do you think makes you really shine?

I think we all have our own good traits. I’m down to earth and I have a bubbly personality.  I like smiling a lot and I like to interact with everyone around me.

032: During your Miss Cebu stint, you grabbed most of the awards and did the same thing at the Mutya ng Pilipinas. Are there any other particular award/s you want to win in a pageant but never got to?
Right now, I’m very content with all the awards that were given to me. For me, winning the crown was the most important. I even got the award for Mutya Viva Discovery (kind of makes you an instant celebrity already so plus for me!).
032: You are the newest addition to the many beauties from the Queen City of the South. What makes Cebuanas strong competitors in pageants?

Cebuanas are very beautiful, intelligent and talented. They have this certain kind of confidence that naturally radiates. They are also clearly very determined and passionate in everything they do. Most Cebuanas are very socially aware so I think that gives us an edge in the competitions we join.

032: Can you tell us about your experience in joining a national competition? What were your preparations?

My experience in Mutya ng Pilipinas was beyond amazing!  I was able to meet a lot of people from different parts of the world and was introduced to different cultures, experiences, characters and attitudes. I was lucky to have met many important people who have helped and inspired me a lot.

My preparations involved going to the gym to tone my body. I read a lot of books to widen my vocabulary and my knowledge as well. I had to go through SOOOOO much training to make sure I could nail the walk on stage. Doing the duck walk is not easy! It takes a lot of hard work and patience.

032: What’s next after winning the Mutya crown?

I will continue my preparations for Miss Asia Pacific International next year. After I sign the contract for Viva Films, I hope to get projects and start a new career.  I will have to see what’s next for me when I get there!

032: Do you plan to invade the television scene when given the chance? Or will you still pursue a nursing/health care related career?

With the Mutya Viva Discovery award, I’m really crossing my fingers to have some projects so hopefully things would turn out well. I’m still open to whatever changes life brings though.

032: What’s your message to all your Cebuano supporters?

No words can express how thankful and blessed I am to be surrounded by such great people. My family who supported me all the way and continually believed in my capacity to do great things. I just want to be an inspiration to those who aspire to reach their goals and dreams in life. I want to tell them to NEVER GIVE UP! Even if you fail a million times!

God always has something greater reserved for you. Just be patient and continue striving hard!  Don’t stop believing in yourself and no matter how hard things get, don’t forget to always show the world your beautiful SMILE!
