Bucket of Joy at Bucket Shrimps

Many people ask me for good recommendations for birthday celebrations. Among my common recommendations are Duz Grill, the Chillage, Manggahan and the Suite Room. When it was my birthday, I asked myself the same question. This time I wanted something different. Deciding on where to eat can sometimes be as difficult as deciding what to wear (Guys, please don’t react because that’s one of women’s universal problems).

I turned to browsing through food porn on social media. The goal was to look for a photo that would make me drool.  I saw a picture of mouth-watering shrimps. Without a doubt, I knew it was time to check out Bucket Shrimps! Luckily, my friends had not tried it yet so we were all happy and satisfied with our pig out location. Fingers crossed for first timers!

THE PLACE

Bucket Shrimps is one of those places with a street food cowboy vibe. There are times to enjoy a fancy restaurant and there are times to enjoy good food while sitting on a plastic chair with an apron made of Manila paper. The latter was a delight.

As always, Cebuanos dig street food and anything delicious that can be eaten by hand or magkinamot. Don’t be surprised to see people all over the place. It’s best to call ahead and reserve a table (0933 199 2521).

Since Bucket Shrimps is located in 11 Orchid Street, Capitol Site, Cebu City, parking is a challenge. If you don’t mind parking far then you won’t have a problem.

THE FOOD

Simply… the food is great!

If you love shrimp, get ready for a bucket of joy. The Boiled Shrimp in Cajun Sauce is a winner! You can also try the one with Gata or the Soft Shell Thai shrimp. If you don’t love shrimps or happen to be allergic, don’t worry. They also serve Crazy Pusit, Liempo Loco and Chicken Wings.

Here’s a tip – if you aren’t ready to get down and dirty with your hands, this is not the best place for you. Kinawboy only.

THE PRICE

For the serving size, the pricing is very reasonable. One bucket of shrimp costs Php 250. Crazy Pusit costs Php 120, Liempo Loco Php 180 and Chicken Wings at Php 150.
