My take two on Alcoy.

Alcoy is about a 2 hour drive from the city. If you’re lucky and if there’s no traffic.. and if you drive like a maniac, you can probably get there within an hour. There are several resorts in Alcoy as mentioned in my previous blog entry, but if you’re looking for a nice, clean, and affordable beach, I suggest hitting Tingko Beach. It is Alcoy’s public beach. It’s a small stretch of white sand and is very accessible from the highway.

Entrance to the public beach is only P10 per person. Parking is P50 per vehicle. They don’t charge corkage for food and drinks which is great. Plus, you can rent tables & chairs for a mere P200. The public beach also has a mini sari sari store for chips, beer, shampoo/soap, etc. They also have a decent bathroom/shower area. Although you have to pay P10 per person if you want to get water to freshen up. I think that’s not too bad though.

Tingko Beach often gets crowded during the weekends (it can get loud with people singing karaoke in the background) but if you’re lucky and if it’s not too crowded, you have a white sandy beach all to yourself.
