A few days ago, I was having a conversation about the music scene in Cebu. It was so different from seven years ago. I’m showing my age, but stay with me, this isn’t going to be a rant comparing how much better, cooler, or more difficult it was back in the day.

I was reminiscing because there aren’t as many gigs. Gone are the days of the noisy four piece garage band. It’s been replaced by DJ’s and acoustic acts. It’s not better or worse, just different.

Back in the day, there were tons of gigs all over the city. The best ones were always in The Outpost, but you could find a gig almost everywhere. Many of them in shitty little bars that no one had ever heard of, but they were so much fun.

Which got me thinking, there has to be bands around similar to what the Cebu music scene had years ago.  Where are these guys?

A few months ago, we partnered with Scissorlips, a music promoter, for their two year anniversary gig. They gave us a list of bands in their roster, complete with links to fan pages and music videos. After clicking the links and listening to the videos, it reminded me of the distinct Cebu sound. The sound is still here. You just need to know where to look.

Listen to the music and follow the bands that you like.

Cheers!
