All the tell-tale signs of an election are coming up. People are writing thought provoking essays about their bets on blogs. Smear campaigns for almost every popular presidential candidate runs amok. Facebook posts of your friends pushing specific candidates litter your feed. And a song likely inspired by the political madness that is the Philippine Elections popped out.

Junior Kilat released a song called, “Kawatan Ka.”

Any guesses about what it’s about? This hard hitting reggae song is the voice of what many people think about our public officials. It’s sad that we live in a society that thinks this way of its politicians. Unfortunately, said officials haven’t made it easier to think otherwise. Even though polls allegedly say corruption is less since Aquino took over, we’ve still got a long way to go.

When filling out your ballot, think of this song. Think about who it represents and try to vote wisely. Spend the time to make an informed decision. Vote for someone who won’t wince when they listen to this song, someone who can listen with a clear conscience.
