If you’re an avid booklover looking for new titles to add to your bookshelf or if you just want to experience something new, head down to the floating book fair on the MV Logos Hope docked behind Malacanang de Cebu (beside Plaza Independencia) . It’s basically a big bookstore inside a ship.

This unique store offers a wide array of books that you don’t normally find in our non-seafaring landlocked bookstores. They have a section for kids, business, music, culinary, text books, spirituality, classics, fiction, and so much more! You can also get books at a huge bargain since some of them are on sale. I was able to get four special hardbounds for only P750 in total. Other than the books, you can also buy MV Logos Hope memorabilia such as ID tags, mugs, calendars, caps, and shirts. The ship also offers discussions on important topics such as good life choices, HIV/Aids, and charity work. If you get hungry from walking around with all those books,  there’s an international cafe where you can grab a snack and something to drink.

Too bad you can’t go around the ship and explore the other decks, but it’s worth a visit just for the books, the volunteer crew, and the message of hope that they bring.

The entrance fee for MV Logos Hope is P20 and free for kids under five years old. There are ample parking spaces located just beside the entrance.

The ship has been docked in Cebu since January 11 and will stay until February 14, 2012. A lot of people visit on weekends but it’s also open on weekdays from 10:00 am – 9:30 pm.
