Despite the incredibly hectic two days, we’re happy to report that Mercado Sinulog 2015 was a success. As you can imagine, the weekend was tiring. We just didn’t expect it to be weird.

On the first day, it was a bit of a downer. It didn’t rain, but the threat of rain was looming the whole day. Not many people showed up because of the weird weather. I can honestly say that Mercado experienced our first slow day ever. I started getting worried about the sellers. Thankfully at night, it was a different story. At around 9pm when I didn’t think we would get much more people. Early Sinulog celebrants were looking for a night cap after their crazy partying in etc Paintensity. Hordes of colorfully painted zombies straight from partying started arriving. It was wonderful.

On Sinulog day, it was a totally different story. As soon as we arrived, people were already passing through. When we finally opened at 11am, people were ready to visit the bazaar. The volume of people felt like a slow ascension from good foot traffic to lots of people to too many people. Sellers were busy. Very busy. The height of the crowd was during the Symphony of Fire (the fireworks celebration of Ayala). There were literally thousands of people on site. It was ridiculous. We’ve never had a bazaar quite like this one.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to do it again.

If you missed Mercado Sinulog 2015, we took lots of photos and even a video of the fireworks in Ayala. Enjoy! We hope to see you in the next Mercado.
