Tabletop games are the collective term for board games, dice games, and card games that are usually played on a, you guessed it!, table or any flat surface. These games include classics such as Monopoly and Snakes and Ladders, but tabletop games are generally more focused on modern board games with more interesting, and sometimes more complex gameplay and mechanics. Some of the most popular modern board games include Settlers of Catan, Resistance, and Ticket to Ride, among many others.
On April 30, 2016, board gaming enthusiasts in Cebu celebrated International TableTop Day 2016 with the rest of the world. Organized by Cebu Board Gamers Society together with Ballista Games, the event was held at Maxwell Hotel along Escario and attracted about a hundred people – regular gaming buffs and casual gamers alike who shared the wonder and joy of tabletop games.
The International TableTop Day 2016 in Cebu was highlighted by a decent-sized library of board games that anybody at the venue could borrow. Around eighty games were on hand for people to choose from, and experienced gamers also made themselves available to teach the games to newcomers.
Other highlights were the Splendor and 7 Wonders tournament sponsored by Ballista Games. Limited edition play mats, cards, art packs and other gaming accessories from the official Asmoplay kit were given to the tourney winners and participants.
Admission was free. Discounted games were sold by Ballista Games at the venue, and coffee and snacks were available courtesy of Kapehan Ceferina.
