A few years ago, we published the first few mockups of the SM Seaside City Cebu. Today it comes full circle.
Here are actual photos from our stroll around this giant mall:
First, we start with our drive towards SM Seaside City. The mall is huge. You can see it very clearly while driving on the SRP roads.
We arrived just in time to finish the grand opening ceremonies.
Since this was still the first day, most of the mall didn’t have much color yet, but the food court easily popped.
As you can see, there’s still plenty of work to be done, but the potential for a wonderful space is there.
The tower in the middle is still taking shape.
The ice skating rink next to the food court should be open by next week or so.
This is the movie house. Star Wars anyone?
Plenty of subtle architectural touches that keeps the mall interesting.
Strolling around SM Seaside City is actually quite nice. The circular design means less corners and no abrupt turns.
If you look close enough, you’ll notice the DJ booth.
Unfortunately, the Sky Hall wasn’t open yet. This is the entrance to the garden above the mall.
We used to bowl a lot when we were kids. Good times.
Although most of the mall showcased a white interior with grey tiles, there were hints of color all around.
Another hidden hint of color. This was on the way to the restroom.
On the bottom floor, there are all sorts of high end cars being displayed. This is likely where they will house a few auto showrooms.
Some of your favorite shops are now open too. Uniqlo, Forever 21, Sfera , etc. Expect many more today.
There’s always room for coffee.
Let’s walk out towards that cube.
Here it is in all its glory.
There’s the potential for this area to be a wonderful place to stroll in the afternoons. It shouldn’t get too hot because the afternoon sun is blocked by the structure.
True to its name, this mall enjoys unparalleled views of the sea.
