A few weeks ago, a Facebook post caught my attention. I didn’t understand it at first, but eventually I realized what was happening. It was a photo posted by Fake Friends’ creative director, Nyorken Cuizon, of an Instagram screen shot of two shirts, one of them was a fake Fake Friends shirt. The caption read, “Barato raman unta amo shirt.” They say mimicry is flattery, but just buy the damn shirt. Here’s your chance.
Fake Friends just released their Summer 2017 Collection. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing street style shot lookbooks graced with remarkable people adorned with beautiful clothes.
Inspired by the colors from the late 80’s and 90’s, Fake Friends releases its first summer collection. This collection features a muted palette from shades that defined an era.
The first piece being a deconstructed utility jacket with cut and sew details, giving a nod to the classic trend of jackets with DIY patches. With the mix of influences that would reflect different sub cultures from the past like street gangs and the varsity jocks, both heavily connected with hiphop and street culture.
The collection also includes custom cropped tops for the women’s line and a basic white shirt with gradient prints both for men and women. Using materials that were hand picked to suit our climate. All pieces features the Fake Friends branding and tags.
