Born to a family of designers, you could say that Vania Romoff was destined to design. Her mother, grandmother and older brother all had the knack for it, so it was only natural that the talent and the drive trickled down to the youngest of the Romoff’s. When asked what else she could be doing, she says she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Now that’s commitment.

Born and raised in Cebu but currently based in Manila, this fashionista has always been bringing her own flare to what could be called the latest uso. Whether it was a simple trip to Ayala or a day at one of the beaches in Mactan, she would always be decked out in the sickest threads with just the right amount of Vania-ness. Fast forward to the year 2011, and look at where she is now. Standing alongside some of the biggest names in fashion, Vania is gracing the rest of the Philippines with that special Vania-ness by means of her own clothing line.

As one would expect, it was a challenge for her to make her mark in Manila. With the big names already holding their ground and the hundreds of other young enthusiasts vying for recognition, all Vania could do was go for it with that perfect amount of determination, talent, and faith. Unsurprisingly, that was more than enough. In a span of only 2 years, she’s climbed the fashion ranks to be one of the most acclaimed young designers in the Philippines.

Ever humble, she still finds it overwhelming to be standing with the “greats” in the industry. But at the rate she’s going, it’ll only be a matter of time before she herself joins their ranks.

We asked her to shed a few words of advice to the all the young aspiring designers to which she replied, “Its funny, I don’t feel like I’ve arrived yet. (laughs) It feels weird giving advice. I’m only 23. But if you love what you’re doing and you work hard at it, you’ll eventually get to where you want to be.”

Vania is currently keeping herself happily busy with her tailor made line, Vania Romoff and her trunk line, Vanilla Label.
