Being both an avid coffee shop goer and a busy student, I often find myself looking for places to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. I’m sure many of you can relate to my sentiments of wanting a quiet place where I can do my work without disruption, but at the same time get affordable and delicious meals. Luckily, I found a great place called Dolce. Not only does it have enjoyable meals, but it’s also a great place to read a book, listen to music and relax.

Owned by Sarah Dychangco, Dolce is located in Panorama Heights, Nivel Hills, Lahug Cebu City. If heading up towards Nivel Hills, it is situated before the luxury hotel, Marco Polo. You can choose to enjoy the interiors of the coffee shop or sit outside where chairs and tables are provided. Studying isn’t so bad with a beautiful view right in front of you. You may also enjoy Cebu’s shining city lights since Dolce is open every day from 7 a.m. till 12 midnight.

As I’ve said Dolce is a very affordable cafe. Their light bites range from 65-80 pesos, sandwiches are 70-170 pesos and their specials mostly 250 pesos. For the thrifty, I have to tell you these meals are worth it. The dishes really fill up the stomach, not to mention they taste delicious! For those who haven’t been there, they serve meals like tuna turnovers, quiches, salads, fresh fruits, cheesecakes, buttercakes, cheese burgers and salmon burgers. Not only are they delicious, but they have great presentation as well. Their cakes are decorated pleasing to the eyes and some of their drinks are served in jar like containers that give a homey feel. Of course since it’s a coffee shop, they also serve the usual round of coffee; hot, iced and blended which range from 70-125 pesos.

For different reasons Dolce isn’t your usual coffee shop and I’ve summed them up here:

  • Dolce shares the space with a flower shop and architectural interior design studio owned by Sarah’s two sisters.
  • Not only is Dolce a few meters away from Marco Polo hotel, there are also other amenities you can enjoy that are just few steps away; the Leisure spa, Anzani (an Italian restaurant) and Bellini (a wine shop).
  • Lastly, where else can you get a good cup of coffee with a mountain view of Cebu City? Thought so.
