When Zerothreetwo previously wrote about Cebu’s only cat cafe, I wasn’t thrilled because although cats are without doubt cute creatures, my heart always goes with the dogs. At home, we have six dogs! They outnumber us. Having a dog is a big responsibility. It is likened to having a baby because of the huge effort exerted in caring for them. Despite the challenges, they are a source of incredible love and joy. Since not all dog lovers have the privilege to own one, it is great news that a dog cafe has finally opened its doors in Cebu.
When I first heard about Lovey Doggy, I wondered how they were able to get the dogs together. When I went there, I was impressed on how well planned the two storey space seemed to be. A spacious and clean playpen for the dogs is found on the ground floor. You can also place your orders on the counter beside the playpen. The cute tables and chairs are found on the second floor. The separation of the playpen and cafe area is important for sanitation purposes.
For the future, Lovey Doggy is developing its dog hotel. Good news for anyone looking for a great place to leave their dogs when away.
Let’s talk about the DOGS! When I visited, they had 13 dogs (11 different breeds!). All of them are too cute to handle! Seriously, I just want to bring them home!
Do you want to know them? Here’s the list! (Take note!)
- Simba (Chow Chow)
- Miyu (Pompspitz)
- Yiri (Siberian Husky)
- Bruno (Beagle)
- Piggy (Corgi)
- Boni (Pug)
- Hani (Pug)
- Kuma (French bulldog)
- Leo (Boston Terrier)
- Wolverine (Pomeranian)
- Milk (Pomeranian)
- Nara (Poodle)
- Cookie (Yorkshire Terrier)
I was looking forward to play with Simba since I love Chow Chows but he was a bit sleepy that day. I ended up playing with Milk (Pomeranian) and she was such a diva in the cutest way possible.
Can you bring your own dogs? YES but you need to bring the following:
– Complete Monthly Vaccination (if still a puppy, at least already finished with the 3rd vaccination shot)
– Yearly Rabies shots (not expired)
– Yearly Kennel Cough (not expired)
They only allow dogs that weigh up to 15 kgs. plus the dogs do not need to pay a fee to get into the pen.
How do I get into the playpen and play with the dogs?
You need to pay an entrance fee of Php100 on top of your orders. When I asked about this added fee, the owner – Monica told me that this covers the maintenance of the place for the dogs.
The Food and Drinks
Let’s say you aren’t a dog lover (yet!), but you want to grab coffee or other drinks, Lovey Doggy is a good spot for you. They have a long selection of drinks. My favorite is the Cotton Candy Frappe. There are also cakes for you to choose from.
